This Opportunity

Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, water/wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pumping/lift stations, water storage, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources.  Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.  

Your Impact

  • Under general supervision, evaluate, plan, design, permit, and support management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Assist with performing basic engineering work relating to water conveyance and distribution, including pump stations and storage facilities.
  • Assist with performing basic engineering work relating to wastewater conveyance and collection, including lift stations and force mains.
  • Assist with performing basic engineering work relating to improvements and retrofitting of existing water and wastewater treatment plans.
  • Assist with preparing calculations, analytic models, written studies, and project design technical reports.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.  
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to get one within 6 months of hiring.
  • Engineer in Training Certification or the ability to get certification within 6 months of hiring.
  • 1 year of engineering related experience in water/wastewater industry, preferably post-graduation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing engineering design software such as Civil 3D or Revit.
  • Experience utilizing analysis software such as WaterGEMS, MathCAD, or ArcGIS.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
