Superintendent - WWTP (Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant) Construction

    Position Summary
    Lead all field operations for water/wastewater treatment plant projects. You�ll supervise multiple foremen and crews, manage subcontractors and vendors, drive schedule, safety, quality, and equipment utilization, and partner closely with the Project Manager. We�re looking for an entrepreneurial superintendent who plans the work, executes relentlessly, and leads from the front.

    Essential Functions of the Job
    � Lead and manage daily field operations; supervise foremen, subs, and vendors.
    � Own jobsite safety: enforce OSHA/PSCC rules, conduct job briefings, and correct hazards/near misses.
    � Read/manage contract documents (plans, specs, schedules, budgets, POs/subcontracts).
    � Build and maintain the project schedule; publish weekly �hard� 2�4 week look-aheads and proactively lock resources (subs, survey, materials, inspections).
    � Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and inspections for maximum production.
    � Maintain a clean, organized site; enforce quality control to meet plans/specs.
    � Mentor and motivate crews; develop future leaders; complete accurate daily reports/timecards.
    � Collaborate with the Project Manager through regular, effective communication.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Technical)
    � Heavy civil/WWTP means & methods (yard/process piping, equipment setting, concrete, start-up/punch-out).
    � Strong plan/spec reading; working knowledge of P&IDs, I&C, and electrical one-lines.
    � Scheduling (2�4 week look-aheads) and resource planning; budget awareness and cost control.
    � Proficient with layout support (rotary laser, builder�s level, total station).
    � Safety leadership (OSHA/PSCC); dewatering awareness; NPDES/BMPs.
    � Clear written/verbal communication; basic IT (smartphone/iPad for forms/reports).

    Physical Requirements
    � Stand/walk for long periods; climb in/out of equipment and structures; lift up to 40 lbs.
    � Distinguish typical jobsite sounds (backup alarms, voices, equipment).

    Environmental Adaptability
    � Outdoor work in all weather, various locations, and times of day.
    � Required PPE: hard hat, eye/ear protection, hi-visibility apparel.

    Training & Experience
    � 7�10+ years heavy civil construction with direct WWTP/treatment plant experience.
    � Proven supervision of multiple crews/subs on complex, self-perform projects.
    � High school diploma or equivalent.
    � Preferred/expected: Competent Person, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Crane/Rigging; OSHA 30.

    � Job sites throughout North Florida centered on Tallahassee; expect 80�90% field presence with periodic office visits as needed.
